Cattle, Casks & a Returning Favorite

Western Heritage Cattle Drive

The Douglas County Fair & Rodeo will be starting up next week, and as a part of that tradition Castle Rock has the annual Cattle Drive down Perry Street! This is one of those “Only in Colorado” kind of events that is happening this coming Friday Night (July 27th) starting at about 6pm!

We’ve got one of the best seats in town to watch the Longhorns as they come down the bridge from Rock Park at the base of Castle Rock. We’re making the event even more fun at the taproom with some sweet beer releases, a food truck, and some concert ticket giveaways from KILO 94.3FM!

Highland Dawn Pale Ale
Scottish Pale Ale – 4.6% ABV, 50 IBUs
A pale ale from the Northern Highlands of Scotland. A heaping helping of pale malt with a touch a wheat, this beer has a slight hop spiciness and plenty of floral aroma!

First up on the beer release list is an old favorite for some of you that we haven’t had on in quite a while: Highland Dawn Pale. The Scottish Pale Ale is the lessor known cousin of the English Pale Ale, and this malty brew’s heritage hails from the high Northern portion of the Scottish Highlands where the weather can a bit wetter and cooler. Harder to find now, the pale ales from Scotland were renowned the world over prior to the World Wars.

You’ll enjoy sipping on this beer in the middle of a heat wave as much as during a cooling Colorado rain storm. This hits the tap list when we open on Friday!

Friday Cask Ale: Sea Queen Stout
Irish Stout – 5.6% ABV, 49 IBUs

The Sea Queen is making her rounds around the emerald isle, and is bringing out a Cask version of this delicious Irish Stout on Friday Night! A classic black beer with roasted & coffee notes on the nose, but a rich chocolate flavor on the smooth finish.

We’ll be tapping this cask at 5pm this Friday (instead of the usual earlier time) to give people a chance to get down here for the Cattle Drive. The roads might have some closures early on, so we want to give everyone a bit of leeway on the timing!

KILO 94.3FM will also be here doing a live broadcast from the Taproom during part of the evening. The DJs will have free giveaways like pint glasses, T-Shirts, and concert tickets! And we’ll also have Diesel Dogs Food Truck serving up some amazing food all evening. Should be a good time!

We’ll see everyone on Friday night for Cattle, Beers and KILO!
Cheers!
