Lining up Ducks…
Yep, we’re still here. Lease negotiation is a longer phase than I thought it would be. Of course, as I’ve mentioned in previous posts, there’s only so much else I can do in preparation before we just wait for a lease.
One of the things I have been able to spend time on is pre-filling out all the various forms and information for the TTB license. The whole process is now online through TTB’s Permits Online application, and I haven’t started putting the requisite info into that system yet, but the paper PDF forms are easily available and I’ve been working through that. There’s quite a bit of info to be filled out on there – everything from your last 10 years of work history and home addresses, Power of Attorney for the company (basically stating to the TTB that I am allowed to sign for the company), Environmental info for where the Brewery will be located, personal questionnaires for any and all owners of the company, surety bond information, and of course the actual Brewer’s Notice giving all the various details of what we plan to do, where, how often, and such.
Some of the info is pretty easy once you know to look for it. The personal questionnaire isn’t hard, just detailed (anyone who has done military service or recruitment will know what I mean). Brewery location info isn’t too bad, and once we have the lease in place, its just a matter of wandering down to the county property office and getting the exact detailed description of the brewery location (basically from a surveyors level of detail on how it relates to a specific plot of land on a map).
Having most of this information ready to go just helps out with knowing we’re not missing some crucial piece of data or such when we do have to file forms with the TTB. This will just help to expedite the process from our end, and every little bit helps.
